Happy Everything.
That’s not easy. This guy is meant to travel facing different ways. Side by side and tandem. 1/4 the size of a sedan. Up to 5 people.
It pains me that I need to add 6″ in width and a foot to the length of my newly named “Sociable” in order to make sense, since it is just a hair too tight, and I am supposedly unable to do this legally in this state because someone picked a number and everybody just nodded in agreement, that 36″ is the perfect limit. Which does not, I do not believe, conform to the size limit in NYC, (since it is 48′ (?) for cargo bikes) along with four wheels and nice little motors are ok too. Some pedicabbers in NYC are organizing and looking for legal help and that is great except they will only care about the motor issue and getting rid of some of the rip-off imposters. As with any organization, they will be devoted to serve the needs of their members, basically to the exclusion of everything else. They could care less about my wider agenda although at least I am invited to their next zoom call.
I just cooked up a new design for a wheelchair-carrying model, but it has to be at least 42″ wide to work and have 4 wheels. I can argue the necessity from a safety viewpoint (although three wheels might suffice) but the existing limitations are absurd and need to go. Gathering a constituency who cares about that or the dozen other concerns that need to be addressed will not be easy. The good part is that this is an issue in just about every country in the world, including lots of little islands everywhere. People need to get from one place to another and the choices today are very limited and many are toxic and uneconomic as well. The fact that they are also homely and boring and very dangerous due to their mass, means that this activity is really a branch of medicine of the preventative variety.
Be well and stay warm.
